I have found that most students have much more wisdom than we give them credit. They understand the importance of "doing the right thing." Most students can recognize anti-social behavior and can avoid it if they want to. They know more about the effects of alcohol than their parents. How should you then approach alcohol and beer in your life? You need to know that all of the boundaries your common sense put in place to keep you from making the wrong decisions
begin to crumble after consuming your first drink. As you continue to drink, all of the personal standards that reflect what you know to be right erode. It is no wonder that most of the crime and violence in our world is committed on the foundation of alcoholism. The car wreck, the rape, the theft, the unexpected pregnancy, the assault, the loss of virginity, the things said that we can never take back happen 80% of the time when alcohol is involved.
The bottom line is when you decide not to be an alcohol or beer drinker, chances are you are destined to miss out on the pain of an awful lot of headaches. The physical effects are clear. Biologically your body considers alcohol purely as poison. It literally is poison to your organs, your blood, and your whole body. Your mind may alter under alcohol's effect, but in the end your body will resent your first sip. Just draw the line. You be the one not drinking. If you already are, make a change or you will short change yourself. You deserve every possible opportunity to succeed. Although some may laugh because of your stand, the same crowd probably envies your strength to go against the flow!
